Finding development experts that can quickly and painlessly solve unique software issues is tricky. Specialized intelligence is needed, including a combination of technology know-how, industry expertise and experience solving real world business issues.

Buildingi specializes in developing web-based software applications utilizing the latest Microsoft® technologies, including:

Application & Development—Right, From the Start

Turning your ideas into working solutions is our specialty. Examples include:

Clearwire - Facility Information Portal

As a fast-growing company, Clearwire had a wide assortment of facility data in various formats, including documents filed in a labyrinth of folders, excel spreadsheets, and multiple systems handling various facility data. To improve the speed and ease of facility data retrieval, Clearwire needed to collect their disparate facility data in an approachable, central location. Buildingi used MOSS 2007 to transfer the data to a consistent location and provide a predictable user experience. Through the use of user experience and design best practices, Clearwire was presented with a site that exceeded their needs and presented their users with data simply and easily.

City of Redmond - Emergency Communication Center

In an emergency, reliable performance and predictable user interfaces aren’t just convenient, they’re a necessity. When City of Redmond needed an Emergency Communication Center, Buildingi built a site using SharePoint 2010 and Microsoft Silverlight that combined the polished feel of enterprise software with the personalized requirements of custom development. The result is a site that’s intuitive to use and provides a rich user experience, both in terms of the look and feel of the site and the relevance of the information presented.

Shoreline Fire Department - Internal Portal

The Shoreline Fire Department SharePoint portal was built within the fire department's network on WSS. The purpose of the portal is to be a “one-stop shop” for everything pertaining to a firefighter’s administrative world. Buildingi worked with a stakeholder team of 12 for a couple of months building the functional specifications prior to developing the site. The use of pictorial representations and page wireframes helped the team visualize the end result, which allowed for less modifications needed during the build phase. Even with the limitations of WSS, Buildingi was able to build a comprehensive document approval workflow and convert previous paper based forms into electronic forms.

Microsoft Silicon Valley (MSV) - Campus Communications Site

Within the Microsoft network, Buildingi worked with the MSV Communications team to develop a site devoted to information about the Silicon Valley area campus. Taking several trips to the California campus allowed the Buildingi team to conduct in person stakeholder meetings which provided the most comprehensive information for the functional specification. Once those meetings were completed and the functional specification was written, the Washington state team was able to build the site per the client’s expectation. The MOSS 2007 site has since been upgraded to 2010 and includes RSS feeds as well as critical transportation information being published by other sites.

Microsoft - Real Estate and Facilities Design Guidelines (REFDG)

Using the standard Software Development Life Cycle methodology, Buildingi originally created a site in 2005 called the International Design Guidelines (IDG) using the Beta release of SharePoint 2007. In 2007, Buildingi was contracted again to create a new site called the Puget Sound Design Guidelines (PSDG). With the help of Buildingi, the Microsoft team established a program roadmap that established the development plan that would consolidate these and other sites into a single portal and add additional functionality over the course of 18 months. Two years later, the Microsoft and Buildingi team deployed a new parent site called the Real Estate and Facilities Design Guidelines (REFDG) site, making the IDG and PSDG subsites. This allowed additional design guideline sites to be developed using a similar template which helped maintain a consistent look and feel for Microsoft’s global real estate teams. This 2010 SharePoint Enterprise site, hosted by Buildingi, also uses Silverlight, Microsoft’s enhanced web technology and InfoPath for more advanced forms.

Puget Sound Energy - Project Management Site

This MOSS 2007 SharePoint site, hosted by Buildingi, is used as a collaboration and document management portal by the internal PSE Project Management team and their outside consultants. Buildingi worked with the team to understand their security and usage needs, write the functional specification then build, deploy and train users. In addition to the standard SharePoint functionality, Buildingi built a unique workflow that allows culmination of documents from different sources to create a unique view of active drawings.

Microsoft - REFWeb Globalization

Within Microsoft’s Real Estate and Facilities group, there are teams spread all over the globe. The RE&F Communications team that manages the primary communications portal (REFWeb) wanted to provide these teams with their own sites to use but wanted to maintain the group branding and a consistent look and feel. Working with the Microsoft communications team and representatives from each region, Buildingi was able to develop a program and template sites for regions to use. The program outlined the guidelines that teams needed to work within in order to meet the overall goal of the Communications team. The site templates allowed sites to be easily created and archived as the team and needs changed.

Microsoft - GRE Planning Tool Rebuild

The Global Real Estate (GRE) Planning tool started as a .Net web application used to plan for Capital and Operational expenditures in the coming years. The tool was originally developed by Buildingi in 2005, and by 2009 the tool had gone through many iterations and the scope of the tool had shifted dramatically from the original intent. In order to strip the tool of its unneeded legacy functionality and provide the users with a clean user experience, Buildingi rebuilt the tool on SharePoint 2010 Enterprise with InfoPath forms serving as the user interfaces and ADFS implemented for easy access without the need for additional credentials. The result was an easy-to-use site that could be updated and maintained using simple InfoPath form updates, rather than more expensive custom development.
